Tournament Overview

XpressBet account holders are eligible to participate in several rich, entertaining, and challenging online handicapping tournaments. Since 2006, XpressBet has awarded over $650,000 in cash and qualifying seats to tournament players.

Plus, players can compete in XpressBet online tournaments without having to travel to distant locations.

In 2010, XpressBet will offer 21 qualifying seats to the Daily Racing Form/NTRA National Handicapping Championship in Las Vegas, as well as 8 spots in Coast Casino’s Horseplayer World Series in Las Vegas.

The overall objective in XpressBet’s winter tournament sequence is for a player to earn prize money and a qualifying seat in XpressBet Showdown, either through competition in the Beat the Host Championship or XpressBet Live. Players who do not qualify for XpressBet Showdown may buy-in for a $500 entry fee.

XpressBet's tournaments are ‘live’ money competitions so players keep what they earn in addition to cash prizes and qualifying seats. Registration fees range from FREE in Beat the Host, to $100 for XpressBet Live and $500 for XpressBet Showdown (for non-qualifiers). Wager amounts vary from $5 per mandatory race in Beat the Host, to $20 per mandatory race in XpressBet Live and XpressBet Showdown.

Here’s a brief description of each 2010 winter/spring tournament. Make certain to look for announcements regarding upcoming tournaments so you can be part of the action.

Beat the Host

The object of Beat the Host is to exceed the host’s cumulative mutuel payoff based on single, ‘live’ $5 online win wagers on one horse in each mandatory race.

There is no entry fee to participate in Beat the Host and weekly cash prizes are awarded to the top finishers. Additionally, all players who ‘Beat the Host’ in weekly competition automatically qualify for the Beat the Host Championship where they compete for cash prizes and qualifying seats in Vegas Tournaments as well as the main event—XpressBet Showdown.

In 2010, any single player who Sweeps the Host in all nine weeks of competition will earn a seat in the Daily Racing Form/NTRA National Handicapping Championship.

Please look for announcements regarding dates, rules and registration information for the next edition of Beat the Host.

XpressBet Live

The object of XpressBet Live is to out-handicap fellow XpressBet account holders based on total mutuel payoffs from single ‘live’ $20 online win wagers on one horse in each mandatory race.

XpressBet Live has a $100 entry fee and space is limited. Cash prizes are awarded to the top finishers and qualifying seats in the rich XpressBet Showdown tournament are at stake.

XpressBet Showdown

This is the main event where XpressBet account holders can make a decent score and win one of nine seats in the Daily Racing Form/NTRA National Handicapping Championship.

The object of XpressBet Showdown is to out-handicap fellow XpressBet account holders based on total mutuel payoffs from single, ‘live’ $20 win wagers on one horse in each mandatory race. XpressBet Showdown has a $500 entry fee, but players may qualify for the event via either the Beat the Host Championship (25) or XpressBet Live (25).

Besides earning big bucks, the top four finishers in XpressBet Showdown qualify for the estimated $1 Million Coast Casinos Horse Player World Series in Las Vegas.

Dime-A-Day

Dime-A-Day competitions were offered during racing at Saratoga, Del Mar and Oak Tree in 2009. Please check XpressBet’s web site for announcements regarding the 2010 Dime-A-Day schedule.

In Dime-A-Day competition registered players are required to make a single $10 win, place or show wager on one horse on any day’s card. If that wager earns the most money of any contest wager, the player earns a $1,000 prize. Leading earners over the course of a meeting garnered DRF/NTRA National Handicapping Championship seats. Dime-A-Day is offered daily on selected tracks.
